On June 12, the Columbia Community Service team and the leaders from this year's grantee organizations came together at The Forum on Columbia’s Manhattanville campus to connect, discuss the critical work that local nonprofits do in the community, and celebrate these essential local programs.
In its 77th year, donations from 570 Columbia, Barnard, and Teachers College faculty, staff, and retirees supported grant awards totaling nearly $300,000 to nonprofit organizations serving Harlem and Morningside Heights. Rooted in the local community, these 52 organizations combat hunger, provide social services, support the arts, and fill educational gaps for youth in STEM, arts, and literacy. CCS is especially thankful for a generous gift of $15,000 from the Leo Rosner Foundation, a CCS major donor, providing $45,000 in funding over the last four years.
The Columbia Community Service Grantee Reception is an annual tradition. This year representatives from more than 30 nonprofits were in attendance to learn and share about the ongoing commitment to crucial community programs and services. The leadership of Courtney’s Stars of Tomorrow, Riverside Immigrant Services & Empowerment, The Reading Team, and Westside Campaign Against Hunger shared how the CCS grant awards have impacted their respective program participants and clients.
Congratulations to all our new and returning grantees! We are proud to invest in your programs and services that address critical needs throughout Harlem and Morningside Heights.
