For nearly eight decades of serving our community, the essential support that CCS provides to local nonprofits has been funded through the generous donations of faculty, staff, and retirees at Columbia, Barnard, and Teachers College.
“We believe deeply in the mission of Columbia Community Service to invest in our neighbors through local organizations doing incredible work in Upper Manhattan. We want to thank everyone who has supported this initiative and encourage those who have not yet participated to support this program that does so much for the people in our community who are struggling,” said Interim Columbia University President Katrina Armstrong, Barnard President Laura Rosenbury, and Teachers College President Thomas Bailey in a joint statement.
At CCS, we also believe that community begins with mutual support, that neighbors don’t leave each other behind, and that when we help each other, we can not only survive, but thrive. We are now asking you to join us in investing in our community in Upper Manhattan through local organizations that are doing incredible work on food relief, social services, education, and so much more.
Over the last decade, CCS has awarded close to $3 million in grants to more than 95 organizations in our community, funded by 100% of your donations.
This past year, CCS awarded $300,000 to 52 local nonprofits, including:
- $50,000 in food relief to five organizations that together serve close to 12,000 people each month.
- $49,000 to nine local arts and culture organizations.
- $102,000 to 21 organizations providing educational enrichment to youth in our community.
- $99,000 to 17 local social services organizations.
This support is only possible through your generous donations. Please make your gift today. And if you cannot make a donation, please consider giving the gift of time.
Everyone at CCS thanks you in advance for supporting our neighbors!
